information
The Banyan Tree is a 17-note melody (5-note phrase, 7-note phrase,
5-note phrase) written originally for the bansuri (an East Indian
flute), but played here by Zamula on the silver flute. The Banyan
is an East Indian fig tree of the Mulberry family. Its branches send
out shoots which grow down to the soil and root to form secondary
trunks.
